We got in touch with the Health & Safety Executive about MFI Furniture Ltd's practices. Unfortunately, they don't believe in taking full written statements or listening to the full story because just like MFI Furniture Ltd, they didn't respond to all of our concerns.

They admitted that a 15 year old boy had been brought in to cover part of the night shift but the company had already dealt with it - have they now??

Does the HSE know exactly what the company have done to prevent this from happening again - MFI have not sacked the supervisor who ordered this to happen & they have not put arrangements in place should this situation reoccur.

MFI Furniture Ltd broke the Law & sacked a good, decent, hard worker who tried to raise this issue with management. What is the point of having Health & Safety regulations if the people who wrote them won't enforce them.

The HSE also told us that the 12 year old girl was in the lodge waiting for her father - children should not be on a site that has 7 ton trucks flying in & out of the main gate & fork lift trucks racing round corners loaded with building materials.

A 12 year old child should not be in a small, cramped & very hectic security office eating sweets & spilling fizzy drinks on the CCTV system, moving drivers keys around & dancing round so much she tripped over a heater's wire - left in a passage way by the supervisor (also health & safety officer)

The supervisor encouraged the 12 year old child to enter the lodge by bringing sweets in for her everyday.

The HSE didn't tell us why Ray's supervisor was allowed to discipline & give him a final warning for not breaching his or the workers health & safety - they simply said he should receive more training for a job he has done for 17 years
