For those of you who
don't speak 'suit' this is what it all means in plain English

First
of all, we won't go into everything you asked us to
investigate as we can't think up any lies that would cover
us completely so we shall omit them (we don't want to
embarrass ourselves like last time)

You
have been dismissed from our company because you were absent
from work - we understand that you were signed off work by
your doctor because you were suffering from stress &
depression caused by workplace bullying & we know that
we said in your contract that you are entitled to be off
work under these circumstances but we were only kidding.. We
are not afraid to make this judgment against you even though
we know that you had never been off work before this &
you even came into work sick - but hey, your just a
temporary worker with no rights!!

Just
in case someone does say that's unfair, we'd like to point
out that you have a very poor disciplinary record - we won't
show you these records because they don't actually exist so
you'll just have to take our word for it.. "your a bad
worker"!!

We
know you taped your supervisor because he was bullying you
& we were ignoring your pleas for help but we don't like
things like that so we had to keep ignoring you, we know
that you phoned us twice to ask for a meeting because you
couldn't attend the disciplinary but that's your word
against ours & us saying that we kept trying to get in
touch with you & you ignoring us sounds much better - we
sent our Gardener out to your friends house to tell you to
attend, that covers us nicely!!

We
also know that our HR Officer was in on the bullying, that's
why we have said that you provoked & orchestrated an
event with your supervisor - what else could we say, we
won't admit that you were right - not ever! We know that you
fulfilled your job description & went beyond your duties
but we have to say that you couldn't do your job or you
could sue us for lots of money!! We also like giving our
temporary workers the odd unfair disciplinary because we
enjoy abusing our power over you..

Because
you had gathered so much evidence against us we had to make
up a pack of lies so that we could sack you - the Government
supports the way we treat our temporary workers!

When
we say it is our belief, what we mean is we have listened to
the bullies & decided to take their side - We are saying
that you were as much to blame as your supervisor because we
support the bully fully & we don't want any blame to
rest on him really but seen as you do have witnesses & a
tape recording of the bullying we will say for our sake that
it was your fault! We have disciplined your supervisor for
bullying you but we won't sack him for gross misconduct even
though we know we should because that would be admitting
guilt & could cost us a lot of money if you sue us!! We
didn't find any evidence of your supervisor being a serial
bully because all of the workers you told us about left the
company under mysterious circumstances but they all had one
thing in common with you - you all have very poor
disciplinary records - we know that the turnover rate in the
lodge was excessive - the lodge is always a man down because
we keep hiring people who refuse to have their human rights
breached - the supervisor, who has been there for 17 years
compared to the longest standing guard who has been there
for 3 years is doing a good job of getting rid of these
workers - shhh, that's a secret!!

We
know that we hired you as a security guard but didn't give
you that type of work - this is for our insurance purposes -
we can also treat you worse than any other employee because
security are scum.. Even your union didn't recognise you
when they got a better deal for all of our other workers (click here for the proof) We're saying we have changed
certain practices but that is another fib - the guards you
worked with are still working under the same conditions as
before - and we can get away with it because now all of the
guards know that if they complain we will sack them - good
eh..

We
know that porn was being distributed by our gardener but we
will have to say you are lying because we don't want to be
inspected by Customs & Excise who would sue us & we
can't have that - it would be bad for business!!

Again,
we 'believe' that this matter has been investigated fully by
the bullies themselves & we are very happy with this
although we won't tell you the outcome of all of the
investigations - we will continue beating round the bush
leaving you none the wiser. We were very clever asking our
workers questions that they couldn't give a proper answer to
& the intimidation tactics worked a treat..

We
know that you followed the correct complaints procedure -
you were very clever doing that because it says in your
contract that no procedures are available to you because of
your temporary status - we have had to say that the general
manager didn't receive your grievance because he is our
Golden Boy & we wouldn't want incompetence of this scale
on his work records so you are lying - you did not send any
letter - our word against yours again..

We
were very annoyed when you left out some serious issues that
had taken place - because you left this information out we
cannot cover it up & we could be sued by the DTI if they
find out before we do - that was very naughty.. we don't
want to see your evidence about what your supervisor put you
through - we don't care, we have already told you that we
are supporting the bully 110%

I
can assure you that where we found evidence of gross
misconduct & breaches of the UK Law we covered it up
immediately - we won't go into what we found because that
would give our game away!! Everything you have complained
about will happen again but no one will complain again as we
have used you as an example of what happens to workers if
they complain about their 'Rights being Breached'..

have not found sufficient grounds to give you your job back
- you rocked the boat, what else am I going to say, I'm
covering my arse here..

If
anymore of our workers raise concerns with you about us
bullying them, please let us know so that we can sack those
workers & do a nice little cover up job..

Because
I am so dizzy & do not really give a damn about you,
I've made sure you couldn't claim benefits for 3 months -
messing your SSP1 form up worked a treat - I haven't quite
finished bullying you yet, I'm now going to deny you a weeks
notice - your getting 4 days notice - this will mess your
claim up again because the benefits agency want the exact
date that we sacked you - which we're not going to give
them, for a while anyway..

Finally,
thank you for bringing these matters to our attention - we
have now covered our arses & wish to God you would get
over it - like we said, we are in the right so what are you
moaning about?? |
Well, this
conclusion came as no surprise, infact, it was expected - Ray had
been prepared for the worst by his legal team because everyone
knew more lies could tip him over the edge.
The benefits agency were so appalled when they were told what Ray
had been through that they referred his case to an employment
rights agency - eventually, after 3 months of living on fresh air
& different companies threatening to take him to court for non
payment all because of the bullying tactics used by the company
Ray flipped & tried to gas himself in his car - fortunately,
he didn't succeed, his medication has been upped & he is now
addicted to prescribed sleeping tablets - he faces a slow cold
turkey withdrawal when he is ready to come off his medication - he
has been signed off work indefinitely..
His future is now uncertain - he has finally been able to sort out
his incapacity benefits with the help of the benefits agency who
assigned a customer relations officer to Ray to attempt to bypass
the company's bullying tactics (withholding confirmation of
amendments, withholding his last wage slip & constantly
changing the date of his dismissal). Ray cannot go for another job
because his name has been slandered & libeled by a company who
Ray went beyond his duties for.. He has done nothing wrong apart
from standing up to a workplace bully who had bullied before &
will do so again
The company hold a different view - we have been informed by one
of Ray's colleagues that the company are sending the supervisor on
several training courses - there is a serious problem with this -
you might be able to train him up to do the job (one he has been
doing for 17 years, says a lot doesn't it) but you cannot change
his personality..
Thanks to Tim Field's website, www.successunlimited.co.uk,
we were able to find out about mental health disorders that the
majority of bullies suffer from - we asked 5 workers, including
Ray to go through the list of disorders to see which one matched
the supervisor's behaviour - they all chose the 'Paranoid
Personality Disorder'

and the serial bully

The serial
bully's fear of exposure is reminiscent of Paranoid
Personality Disorder, a pattern of pervasive distrust and
suspiciousness of others such that their motives are interpreted
as malevolent. An inability to trust, doubts about others'
loyalty, distortion and fabrication, misinterpretation, and
bearing grudges unnecessarily are hallmarks of the disorder.
Pathological jealousy, instinctive aggressive counter-attack, the
need to control others, and the gathering of trivial or
circumstantial "evidence" to support their jealous
beliefs also feature. The DSM-IV Diagnostic Criteria for Paranoid
Personality Disorder are:
A.
A pervasive distrust and suspiciousness of others such that their
motives are interpreted as malevolent as indicated by at least
four of:
1.
suspects, without sufficient basis, that others are exploiting,
harming or deceiving him or her
2.
is preoccupied with unjustified doubts about the loyalty or
trustworthiness of friends or associates
3.
is unwilling to confide in others because of unwarranted fear
that the information will be used maliciously against him or her
4.
reads hidden demeaning or threatening meanings into benign
remarks or events
5.
persistently bears grudges, ie is unforgiving of (perceived)
insults, injuries or slights
6.
perceives attacks on his or her character or reputation that are
not apparent to others and is quick to react angrily or to
counter-attack
7.
has recurrent suspicions, without justification, regarding the
fidelity of spouse or sexual partner
B.
Does not occur exclusively during a course of schizophrenia, mood
disorder, etc
In many cases,
the serial bully appears to select targets in the order of the
serial bully's perception of danger of exposure of inadequacy.
We have never met
the man but after putting this case together and listening to the
testimonies of other workers we believe that this man does suffer
from this disorder & should not be in charge of the lives of
so many people (Health & Safety, Fire Protocol, Supervisor)
